Day 8 - Eiffel Tower

by Joe Butch on January 21, 2009

The top of the Eiffel Tower is very cold and the side that has the wind is extremely freezing. A man comes up to me on the side with no wind and asked me to take a photo of him. I had no problem with this and took the photo and when I offered him his camera phone back he asked for another photo but on the windy side. Had to take 2 more photos while freezing.

I don’t mind it when strangers ask me to take a photo of them, just dont ask for more than one shot and don’t drag me over to other parts of the Eiffel Tower to be your cameraman.

Here are some photos I took of the Eiffel Tower:

Day 7 - Musee du Louvre

by Joe Butch on January 19, 2009

I was very worried about hour long lines to enter the Louvre. I was plesantly surprised when there was no line at all.

[x] Picasso Paintings
[x] Mona Lisa

The cafe inside the Louvre have the best ham and cheese sandwich that I have ever had.

Here are some photos I took inside the Louvre.

It’s dumb that they make u stand 10 feet away from the Mona Lisa and it’s also covered by a few inches of glass.

Day 7 - Scammed In Paris

by Joe Butch on January 19, 2009

Amber and I were walking towards the Eiffel Tower and a woman walking towards us in the other directions finds a gold ring on the floor. She acted very excited and said, “Wow! Is this yours? No? Today must be my lucky day! Do you think it’s real gold?” I took a look at it and looked like a gold wedding band for a man. I replied “I’m not sure.”

We started walking away and five seconds later she says, “It doesn’t fit. Here you can have it. I replied “wow thanks” and walked away. Five seconds later she says, “Could you give me a few euros so I could buy a sandwich.” I was like yeah sorry I don’t have anything and that I was actually looking for an ATM (lie).  I offered the ring back and told her to sell it to buy some food.

She didn’t want the ring back and asked if I had any change at all. I pulled out 50 cents and gave it to her and when she realized thats all she was getting out of me she took the ring back.

As she walked away amber asked if we could have our change back.

Day 6 - A Paris Bum And A Fantastic View

by Joe Butch on January 18, 2009

Amber and I took the Thayls train from Amsterdam to Paris. When we stepped out of the train station this middle aged woman comes up to me and asks me If I spoke English. When I told her I did she asked If I could read this note.

The hand written note read:

Dear Ladies and Gentlement I am from Bosnia and came to Paris 2 months ago I am broke….(this is where I stopped reading)

Since begging in french is pointless I guess the bums here give you letters in english instead.

Here is a photo of the view from our hotel room.
